Spring
The rites of spring
flowers blossoming
little ducklings
puppies and kittens
why is it not spring

Where is the sun and the warmth?
the sun is not here
only dark grey ominous clouds
a cold wind knocking sense
into my body daring to leave
without a coat

People holding hands,
hearts flying around heads
stary gazes not recognizing
any but the lover

Where is my lover?
he is not here
we have not found each other
in this world.

He is hidden in my heart,
protected, cherished
But he cannot hold my hand
nor kiss my cheek
not in this lifetime.

That is why it is not spring.

a piece of material coiled in nature
that bounces back when pulled apart

rain and clouds today
sun tomorrow
don't get too comfy
it'll rain on saturday
don't make plans
to go anywhere
the car will be damp
through and through
the sunroof leaks
like the rain from the sky
drip,
drip,
drip.
did i mention spring is here?
more like spring has sprung
a leak.
